Cobra Zero is the alcohol-free version of Cobra’s familiar lager, created to offer the brand’s characteristic smooth, delicate and malty taste without the alcohol. It has a lightly sweet malt character, subtle hop notes and a clean, refreshing finish, making it an easy-drinking lager that works particularly well with food.
At 0.0% ABV, Cobra Zero is designed as a versatile alternative to the original Cobra Premium.
Appearance:
Poured just like regular lager. A thin head forms and slowly dissolves. A honey amber colour with clarity. No obvious gas or bubbles while the glass initially sits.
Nose:
Refreshing light fruits, honey and pineapple. Faint hops and malt. It reminds me a little of Tizer!?
Taste:
Quite sweet on the first sip with a little bitterness. The ‘Tizer’ element is consistent with the nose, which I like as it’s well balanced and familiar. Citrus sourness and a light tropical layer emerge after the first few tastes.
Honey and caramel emerge last.
Finish:
The honey, caramel, citrus and malt all last well into the finish, which itself lingers for a decent length of time.
Overall:
It’s a pretty decent beer in its own right and an excellent substitute for its alcoholic relative. Plenty going on to keep me satisfied and interested and a well-balanced flavour profile.
I wouldn’t really notice the difference if this accompanied an Indian meal instead of the ‘full fat’ version.
Drink With:
Indian cuisine obviously!
Would I buy Again?:
Yep, a friendly, reliable NA beer.
