Drop Bear Tropical IPA is an alcohol-free IPA from Welsh brewery Drop Bear Beer Co., created to deliver the bold, fruit-forward character associated with a modern IPA without the alcohol.
As the name suggests, the beer is built around a tropical and citrus-led hop profile, making it a good example of the contemporary, flavour-focused approach to alcohol-free brewing. Rather than aiming to replicate a traditional lager, it embraces the expressive hop character that has become a defining feature of modern IPA.
Appearance:
Hazy gold. Very lively with a frothy head that sticks to the glass. I had difficulty pouring this as it immediately foamed up to fill the glass!
Nose:
Unsurprisingly fruity, citrus, mango and lemon in particular. Some balloon rubber.

Taste:
A good balance of zest, hops and tropical fruits. Refreshing and quite light.
Finish:
The taste doesn’t last long, there’s the hops and fruit together with a little bitterness.
Overall:
A decent IPA with a nice balanced flavour profile and offering a refreshing pour.

BBQ/steak
Would I buy Again?:
Yeah but there’s better available.
